Applicable Performance Tests

The following performance test information is provided to help you understand how to measure the effectiveness of the ECOBOND™ products and includes links to the relevant test specifications.

  • ECOBOND™ products are recognized as an interim controlmethod by HUD and the EPA.
  • ECOBOND™ products reduce lead hazards up to 99% - EPA Method 1311
  • ECOBOND™ products reduce airborne lead dust up to 99% - ASTM E1613-12
  • ECOBOND™  products resist acid rain leaching up to 99% - EPA Method 1312
  • ECOBOND™ products help reduce lead bioavailability by up to 85%  EPA 9200.1-86
  • ECOBOND™ products resist mold and mildew - ASTM D5590-00 modified
  • ECOBOND™  products have a high fire resistant rating:
    Flame spread “0”, Smoke Developed “0”, NFPA/BC Class A Coating -
    ASTM E84

It is recommended that you check with all local and state regulatory agencies to validate what testing is required (if any) for your use.
Test results may vary based on your specific application. Testing on a small test-area in advance can be beneficial.

What ECOBOND products will NOT do:

  • ECOBOND™ products will NOT eliminate or extract the lead from an existing coating or surface. Total lead, as detected by XRF gun will not be reduced.
  • ECOBOND™ is NOT classified by EPA or HUD as an Encapsulant.

For additional information, ECOBOND™ Lead Defender™ has research confirming the effectiveness of lead treatment protocols with demonstrated benefits by third party validation of a novel, low cost Lead Contaminated Surface Treatment (LCST). This treatment effectively treats and seals lead contaminated surfaces; thereby mitigating the potential for lead exposure hazards to humans and the environment. Read Technical Paper
